19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
